What is a Digital Native?


As Marc Prensky suggests, there has been an event which has changed things so fundamentally that there is absolutely no going back: the rapid dissemination of digital technology in the last decades of the 20th century. Today's students have spent their entire lives surrounded by and using computers, videogames, digital music players, video cams, cell phones, and all the other toys and tools of the digital age. Today's students think and process information fundamentally differently because of these experiences. "Different kinds of experiences lead to different brain structures, " says Dr. Bruce D. Perry of Baylor College of Medicine.
